Marketing & Visibility Audit | Prepared for Allie Stark & the Nourish Team

A site that feels right but reads invisible.

Nourish has a real story, real press, and a real audience. But the site Google sees today is missing the pieces it needs to put you in front of the people already searching for what you do. This audit is a clear-eyed read of what's working, what's quietly leaking, and what to fix first — no 60-page deck, no jargon, no upsell theater.

01 / 08Executive summary

Three problems are quietly costing you customers.

Nourish has strong fundamentals — thoughtful blog content, working sitemap, HTTPS, FOX6 press exposure, and a clear founder story. But the site is bleeding ranking potential because of three structural problems. Fixing them is a focused work day — not a rebuild.

— 01

Every page is titled "Nourish."

The homepage <title> is literally seven characters: "Nourish." Every other page reads "COACHING — Nourish," "BLOG — Nourish." Google has nothing to rank or display. Meta descriptions are empty across all 37 indexed pages.

— 02

Template scaffolding is publicly indexed.

Your sitemap publishes /home-foster ("Welcome To The Foster Template"), /new-page-1, four /blog-foster/ pages including a literal lorem ipsum post. To Google, this signals an unfinished site.

— 03

The homepage carries ~5 MB of images.

One image loads at 916 KB — twice. On mobile, that is the single fastest way to fail Core Web Vitals. Google's algorithm punishes this category of problem hardest, and it's what most local customers experience first.

02 / 08On-page SEO

What Google sees vs. what we want it to see.

I crawled thirteen pages on the site. Across the board, the title tags, meta descriptions, and H1 elements aren't doing the work they should be doing. The good news: this is the highest-ROI fix on the site, and most of it can be edited inside Squarespace in an afternoon.

— 02.1 Critical

The homepage title is the word "Nourish." That's it.

The <title> tag is the single most important on-page ranking element. On nourishlakecountry.com, it's seven characters long, and it tells Google nothing about juice, organic, cold-pressed, Oconomowoc, Lake Country, juice cleanse, mushroom lattes, or any of the commercial terms your customers actually search for.

Observed <title>Nourish</title>
<meta name="description" content="">  (empty)

This is the single highest-ROI change on the entire site. Below, every page on the site with a recommended title and meta description — ready to paste in.

— 02.2 High

The H1 on half your pages is the logo word, "nourish."

On /blog, /contact-foster, /superfoods, and /new-page-1, the H1 element renders as just "nourish." Squarespace is wrapping your site logo in an <h1> tag, which Google treats as the most important heading on the page. Every page should have one keyword-rich H1 that matches search intent.

Fix: in Squarespace Site Styles → Header, change the logo container from <h1> to <div> (or use the page's own title block as the H1). Then make sure every page has one intentional H1 that reads like a real headline.

— 02.3 High

Inconsistent capitalization makes pages read as broken.

Current H1s include "JuICE CLEANSE," "MoBile Mocktail Service," and "About US." This isn't a stylistic quirk — it reads as careless in SERPs and signals neglect to Google's quality signals. Fix the casing across the site to either Title Case or Sentence case and commit to one.

03 / 08Technical SEO

Foundations are solid. Two leaks are draining performance.

HTTPS is correct, the sitemap is wired up, the canonical tag is set, and the mobile viewport is configured. The two things that need attention are sitemap hygiene and page weight.

— 03.1 Critical

Your public sitemap is publishing template scaffolding.

The XML sitemap at /sitemap.xml publishes 37 URLs to Google. Several of them shouldn't be there:

  • /home-foster — H1 reads "Welcome To The Foster Template"
  • /new-page-1 — duplicate About Us page
  • /new-page-4 — actually your Mobile Mocktails service page, with a junk URL
  • /blog-foster/ + 4 child posts, including /blog-foster/2016/9/28/lorem-ipsum-dolor-sit-amet-6ewpe (literal lorem ipsum)
  • /products-foster/ — abandoned template store page

What this signals: to Google, an unfinished site that the owner isn't actively maintaining. Crawl budget gets wasted on filler pages instead of going to /juice-cleanse, /coaching, and the blog content that actually matters.

The fix: delete every -foster page and every new-page-N page inside Squarespace. Rename the real pages with clean slugs (/menu, /contact, /mobile-mocktails) — Squarespace will auto-301 the old URLs.

— 03.2 Critical

The homepage loads roughly 5 MB of images.

I sampled twenty image requests on the homepage. Total weight came to ~5,285 KB, with one image at 916 KB being requested twice. Of five images visible in the markup, only five had loading="lazy" applied.

Sample (top 6 of 20 sampled images) 916.3 KB · 1630384953429-6KSNHAATNWC4JWQ   (loaded twice)
574.7 KB · 6afe9f4e-46f9-4684-b137-43df5
502.0 KB · 6afe9f4e-46f9-4684-b137-43df5
421.1 KB · 1630384953429-6KSNHAATNWC4JWQ
226.2 KB · 1630384953429-6KSNHAATNWC4JWQ
173.8 KB · 6afe9f4e-46f9-4684-b137-43df5

This is the fastest way to fail mobile Core Web Vitals — specifically Largest Contentful Paint, which is the metric Google's algorithm weights most heavily for mobile rankings. Three steps fix it:

  1. Re-export every uploaded image at ≤2000 px wide, ≤250 KB, WebP format before uploading.
  2. In Squarespace Site Styles, enable "Lazy load images" globally.
  3. Replace the OG share image — it's currently the 1000×1177 logo JPG. Use a 1200×630 food/juice hero shot to improve social-share click-through.
— 03.3 Medium

Robots.txt is fine — but worth a strategic decision.

Squarespace's default robots.txt blocks every major AI scraper: GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Anthropic-AI, Google-Extended, Perplexity, CCBot, and more. This is the default for new Squarespace sites, and it's your call whether to keep it.

The tradeoff: blocking these prevents your content from training AI models, but it also removes you from emerging AI search surfaces (ChatGPT search, Perplexity answers, Claude search). For a local business that wants every visibility lever, I'd selectively unblock the search-facing crawlers (PerplexityBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot when used for search) while keeping training-only crawlers blocked.

04 / 08Local SEO

This is your biggest untapped lever.

You're a single-location brick-and-mortar inside Stone Bank Farm Market in Oconomowoc. For a business like yours, local search is the strategy — not blog traffic, not paid ads. And you have two structural local-SEO problems that are easy to fix.

— 04.1 High

Your LocalBusiness schema is empty.

The structured data block on your homepage currently outputs this to Google:

{
  "@context": "http://schema.org",
  "@type": "LocalBusiness",
  "address": "",
  "image": "https://static1.squarespace.com/...",
  "openingHours": ""
}

Address and hours are empty strings. This is the digital equivalent of telling Google "I'm a local business but I refuse to say where or when." A proper Restaurant schema (better than generic LocalBusiness for a juice bar) should replace it. Paste this into Squarespace Settings → Advanced → Code Injection → Footer:

<script type="application/ld+json">
{
  "@context": "https://schema.org",
  "@type": "Restaurant",
  "name": "Nourish Organic Juice Bar",
  "image": "https://www.nourishlakecountry.com/og-hero.jpg",
  "url": "https://www.nourishlakecountry.com",
  "telephone": "+1-262-449-4125",
  "priceRange": "$$",
  "servesCuisine": ["Juice Bar", "Organic", "Plant-Based", "Gluten-Free"],
  "address": {
    "@type": "PostalAddress",
    "streetAddress": "N68 W33208 County Trunk Hwy K",
    "addressLocality": "Oconomowoc",
    "addressRegion": "WI",
    "postalCode": "53066",
    "addressCountry": "US"
  },
  "geo": { "@type": "GeoCoordinates", "latitude": 43.155, "longitude": -88.466 },
  "openingHoursSpecification": [
    { "@type": "OpeningHoursSpecification",
      "dayOfWeek": ["Monday","Tuesday","Wednesday","Thursday","Friday"],
      "opens": "08:00", "closes": "15:00" },
    { "@type": "OpeningHoursSpecification",
      "dayOfWeek": ["Saturday","Sunday"],
      "opens": "09:00", "closes": "15:00" }
  ],
  "sameAs": [
    "https://www.facebook.com/nourishlakecountry",
    "https://www.instagram.com/nourishlakecountry"
  ]
}
</script>

This is the kind of edit that pays for itself in local-pack rank within 4–8 weeks once Google re-crawls and validates the markup.

— 04.2 High

Google Business Profile is doing most of your local lifting — let's make it great.

Your site links to a Google Knowledge Panel (g.co/kgs/xCr7fFt), so the GBP is verified and live. But the local-pack rankings you actually need come almost entirely from the GBP itself, not the website. A short checklist:

  • Primary category: Juice shop. Secondary: Health food restaurant, Cafe, Organic food store.
  • Photos: upload 30+ photos in the next 90 days — ideally a steady drip, not all at once. Customers, food, interior, exterior, the Stone Bank setting.
  • Posts: weekly Google Posts. Cleanse drops, menu changes, seasonal offerings. Treat it like Instagram for customers actively searching.
  • Reviews: set up an automated request after every cleanse pickup. The single highest-ROI local move in 2026.
  • Q&A: seed it yourself with the 8–10 most common questions (hours, gluten-free, cleanse logistics, pickup vs. dine-in).
— 04.3 Medium

You're competing with two locals — win on story.

Direct competitors in Lake Country / Waukesha County: Clean Juice Oconomowoc (national chain, templated content, mostly franchise SEO) and The Daily Dose (multi-location, focused on convenience). You can't out-volume them on locations or ad spend. You can out-position them on founder story, depth, and content.

Your moat is Allie's autoimmune journey, the Stone Bank Farm Market partnership, and a real editorial voice in the blog. Nothing about your homepage tells Google or a first-time visitor any of that within the first three seconds.

05 / 08Site structure

URL housekeeping is two hours of work.

A handful of clean renames and 301 redirects, and the site will read as significantly more professional — both to humans and to Google. Squarespace handles the 301s automatically when you change a slug, so the risk is low.

Blog slugs are full of &-amp- and leading hyphens.

Examples currently live in the sitemap:

/blog/-allies-nighttime-routine-for-deep-sleep-amp-happy-hormones
/blog/-the-art-of-doing-less-why-rest-is-the-ultimate-medicine

This happens when an ampersand is typed in the post title. Squarespace converts it to -amp- in the slug. The leading hyphens come from automatic slug generation stumbling over special characters at the start of a title.

Fix: edit each blog post's URL slug to use plain -and- with no leading hyphen. Squarespace 301s the old URL automatically.

— 05.3 Medium

Internal linking is navigational, not contextual.

The homepage has 31 outbound links, but almost all of them are nav links. Real internal-link equity comes from contextual links inside body content — e.g. the Holiday Gift Guide blog post should link to /juice-cleanse and /superfoods with anchor text that includes those keywords.

Every blog post should carry at least two contextual internal links to your commercial pages. That's how authority flows from the editorial content (where it accumulates) to the pages that actually convert.

06 / 08Content strategy

Strong editorial. Missing commercial pages.

Your blog quality is genuinely good — rose medicine, somatic release, soil microbiome, food energetics. It reads like Allie. The gap is that the editorial isn't paired with commercial-intent landing pages that capture the people searching with intent to buy.

— 06.1 High

High-intent commercial pages worth building or rebuilding.

PageTarget QueryWhy
/juice-cleanse (exists, optimize)"juice cleanse oconomowoc," "juice cleanse milwaukee"Highest commercial intent on the site
/menu"juice bar near me oconomowoc," "organic juice lake country"Pairs with map-pack results

/gift-cards"wellness gift wisconsin," "juice bar gift card"Holiday commerce, low effort
/juice-bar-hartland, /juice-bar-delafield, /juice-bar-pewaukeeEach town as a queryCapture neighboring Lake Country towns Clean Juice doesn't target
— 06.2 Medium

Blog gaps the audit revealed

You're missing the bottom-of-funnel content that converts editorial-curious readers into customers. Four posts I'd write next:

  • "Best Juice Cleanse in Wisconsin: 1-Day vs. 3-Day vs. 5-Day" — pillar piece, links to /juice-cleanse
  • "What to Drink at a Juice Bar When You're Pregnant" — high-intent, underserved query
  • "Stone Bank Farm Market: A Complete Guide" — link bait for the venue, ranks locally, brings foot traffic
  • "Oconomowoc Coffee Alternatives: Mushroom Lattes Explained" — pairs with /superfoods
07 / 08Off-page authority

You have real press. Use it like real press.

The FOX6 Milwaukee segment is meaningful, but its full SEO value depends on whether FOX6 actually links to your site, not just mentions you. The same is true for every other piece of local press you earn.

— 07.1 Medium

Backlink targets worth pursuing in the next 90 days

  • Stone Bank Farm Market website — should be a guaranteed link from your host venue. Ask.
  • Lake Country Family Fun — the de facto local guide for the area.
  • OnMilwaukee and Milwaukee Magazine wellness coverage — pitch Allie's story.
  • Oconomowoc Area Chamber of Commerce and Lake Country Chamber — foundational citations.
  • Wedding venue partners (Ingleside, Pabst Mansion, etc.) — pitch the mobile mocktail service for vendor listings.
  • FOX6 article — verify the article links to your site, not just names you. If not, request it.
08 / 08The 90-day plan

A focused work day. Then compounding for 90 days.

Most of what's broken here is a configuration problem, not a rebuild. The plan below is written so it can be run by one person inside Squarespace — or handed to someone who'll move faster with the right context.

Phase 01

Foundation.

Week 1 · ~4 hours
  1. Rewrite every page title + meta description using the recommended copy above.
  2. Replace the empty LocalBusiness schema with full Restaurant JSON-LD via Code Injection.
  3. Delete /home-foster, /new-page-1, /blog-foster/*, /products-foster.
  4. Rename /contact-foster, /menu-with-jpg-file, /new-page-4 to clean slugs.
  5. Fix the H1 on /blog, /contact, /superfoods.
  6. Add real alt text to every homepage image.
Phase 02

Performance & polish.

Weeks 2–3 · ~4 hours
  1. Re-export and replace the top 10 largest images at ≤250 KB, WebP, max 2000 px.
  2. Replace the OG share image with a 1200×630 food hero shot.
  3. Enable Squarespace's site-wide lazy-load toggle.
  4. Clean every blog post URL slug — remove -amp- and leading hyphens.
  5. Audit Google Business Profile: categories, photos, hours, services.
Phase 03

Compound.

Months 2–3
  1. Publish the "Best Juice Cleanse in Wisconsin" pillar post.
  2. Build /event-catering / /wedding-mocktails landing page.
  3. Set up automated review requests after every cleanse pickup.
  4. Build 2–3 neighborhood landing pages (Hartland, Delafield, Pewaukee).
  5. Internal-link audit: every blog post gets 2 contextual links to commercial pages.
  6. Re-run PageSpeed Insights + Search Console. Measure delta.
A real conversation, not a pitch deck

If you'd like, I can actually build this with you.

This audit is yours either way — no strings, no upsell theater. The Week 1 work takes a focused afternoon and you can run it inside Squarespace without me. If you do, you'll be glad you did.

But if the bandwidth isn't there — or you'd rather have someone who's done this thirty times sit in the advisor's chair while it's executed — that's exactly the kind of engagement Sonder is built for. We audit. We design. We advise. And when it's the right fit, we build alongside you so the moves actually compound.

What I'd suggest: a 30-minute working session to walk through this together, prioritize against your actual calendar, and figure out the right scope of partnership — whether that's a one-time sprint to ship Week 1 + 2 in a week, an ongoing advisory retainer, or a phased rebuild of the site itself. No pressure, no decks. Just a real conversation.

What an engagement looks like

The Nourish rebuild — if you want it

  • Week 1 sprint: ship the Phase 01 fixes inside Squarespace
  • Schema, page weight, image optimization, sitemap cleanup
  • Page-by-page rewrites with copy that sounds like you
  • Google Business Profile and review-request automation
  • Optional: full site rebuild on a faster, modern stack
  • Optional: ongoing advisory retainer for the next 90 days
